Home additions
A bedroom suite, a bigger kitchen or a family room added to your house, from the survey and drawings to the permit, the build and the final inspection.

Adding on is often the best way to get the space you need without leaving a neighborhood you like. It is also the largest project most homeowners ever take on, so it pays to understand the steps before the first drawing.
Before drawings
We start with the lot: how far the addition can come from the property lines, where the utilities run, how the land slopes and drains. Knoxville and Knox County set different rules, and some neighborhoods have design overlays. We check these before you spend money on drawings.
Drawings and permit
Our designer draws the addition and how it connects to the house. Where beams, foundations or a second story call for it, a structural engineer signs off. We submit the permit application and answer the reviewers' questions.
The build
- Foundation: footings, then a crawl space or slab to match the house.
- Shell: framing, sheathing, roof and windows, so the addition is dry before the house is opened.
- Connection: the opening into the house made last, with dust walls up.
- Systems and finishes: wiring, plumbing, heating and cooling, insulation, drywall, trim and floors.
Every stage is inspected before the next one starts, and you get a schedule that is updated weekly.
